NCAA Information
The NCAA governs the rules and regulations for student athletes and their participation in college athletics. These rules are very specific and will determine a student's eligibility to play in one of three divisions:
Division I: Large universities/colleges that can offer full scholarships to qualified student athletes. Division I has the most rigorous eligibility requirements explained within the links below.
Division II: Medium-smaller sized universities and colleges that can offer up to a 50% scholarship to qualified student athletes. Division II also has specific eligibility rules explained within the links below.
Division III: Generally smaller universities/colleges that do not offer any scholarship money. The general requirement to qualify to play Division III sports is to graduate high school.
It is important that you let your counselor know if you are interested in playing a Division I or II sport in college. If you are, it is important that your classes are NCAA approved. It is also imperative that students who plan to play a sport in college (Div. I or II) register with the NCAA Eligibility Center in Spring of their junior year.
